This year the Mayne Conservancy is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and you can read about our beginnings in this article by Nancy Gibson. We hope you will renew your membership or become a first-time member of the Conservancy in 2023 and be part of our celebrations.

Your membership is important to us. In addition to your ongoing support for and involvement in our work, your membership helps us in our grant applications. Funders like to know that we have a robust membership. With more members we also have a larger audience for our messages about conservation activities and events on Mayne. Last year we had just under 400 members and for 2023 our goal is to grow our membership to 500. With the increased permanent population on Mayne and the vibrant seasonal visitor population we hope to achieve this target.

Let’s celebrate! To thank our members for their ongoing support, we are planning several special events and activities throughout the year. The first special occasion is our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 22, which is Earth Day. Yes, an AGM can be fun! In addition to the business agenda, there will be a reception with displays of the work and people involved in the Conservancy over the past two decades.

At the AGM we are also going to raffle off three great prizes, drawing the winners from the 2023 membership list as of April 22nd.

Membership Raffle Prizes

  1. Lunch for two at Hedgerow Farm hosted by Conservancy Board member Peter Robinson and partner Kristine Webber, and a tour of the Conservancy’s wetland restoration work.
  2. Four plants of your choice from a selection at our native plant nursery.
  3. Two free passes to 2023 Conservancy events  (events after April 22nd, not including the gala).

To attend the AGM you need to have a 2023 membership, which allows you to vote in elections for the Conservancy board, have a hand in adopting resolutions, help make changes to the Constitution and Bylaws, and accept the financial statements from the previous fiscal year.

So, join by April 22nd and you can participate in the governance of the Conservancy, celebrate our 20th anniversary, and be eligible to win one of the three prizes.

If you’ve read this far, please take the next step, and join. Membership is only $5 per person for the calendar year expiring at the end of every December.
