The Oystercatcher: News and Events from the Mayne Island Conservancy

May, 2019

Dear friends,

Please join us this Saturday, April 27 for a special day at the Agricultural Hall here on Mayne Island. Our annual Spring Native Plant Sale runs from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on the fair grounds. If your membership is current, you can pre-order for pickup on Saturday. This can be very helpful if you’re interested in something that’s in high demand that we only have a few of. See the article on the sale below, and click on “Availability and pricing” to see what we have in stock.

Right after the plant sale, our Annual General Meeting starts in the Hall. Come and hear what we did last year and some of our plans for this year, ask questions, and chat with us over tea and goodies. You can meet some new directors we will be inducting. Members will also have an opportunity to vote on some bylaw changes, mainly concerning membership rules. This year, we’re offering some very nice door prizes, so stick around and you might take a treasure home with you!

President, Mayne Island Conservancy

Paddle Along for Biodiversity

On April 27th, we'll be doing a one-of-a-kind fundraiser: the Paddle-Along for Biodiversity. Kayakers from Mayne and Galiano Islands will do a tour of the islands to raise funds to support Bioblitz 2019.
Please consider supporting our paddlers as they raise funds to increase our knowledge of our islands' biodiversity. By making a donation to support a paddler, you'll be helping to fund the first Mayne and Galiano Bioblitz, an ambitious initiative to expand our knowledge of the diversity of life that calls these islands home.

Every donation helps, no matter how large or small. Thank you for your support. Donations are tax deductible.
