Are you passionate about nature and education? Do you have experience or interest in helping an organization meet its potential?
The Mayne Island Conservancy Society is seeking candidates for our 2019 Board of Directors.
The Mayne Island Conservancy works with the community to conserve the ecology of Mayne Island and its surrounding water for future generations.
We are an active board, many of us taking on multiple areas of responsibility in driving the organization to new levels of professionalism. Its an exciting time in our evolution and we are looking for some new energy to help to carry the mission and goals to new levels.
Whether the skills you have be in the areas of communications, finance, environmental science, education and/or a general enthusiasm for the natural environment we encourage you to get in touch and find out more about joining the Conservancy’s Board of Directors.
Please contact Deb Foote if you have questions or would like to express your interest.
The Mayne Island Conservancy Board of Directors meets on a monthly basis, on the second Friday of every month (except December). Besides monthly meetings the board holds periodic staff appreciation dinners and has started a new tradition of holding a summer volunteer appreciation picnic. We take turns staffing our display at summertime Farmers’ Markets, host several fun environmentally-themed events each year – film nights, workshops, celebrations, field trips and more – and get involved in planning and running a wide variety of projects.
Taking part in the governance of one of Mayne Islands important community organizations is a rewarding experience. I highly recommend it!
