You did it! CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all who participated in the Matching Funds Campaign in December. With your generous support we succeeded in matching the very generous $10,000 donation from the Graves family, and then some. These funds will be directed towards the ongoing management and stewardship of the Edith Point Conservation Area, so watch for updates on this work as we move forward in the years ahead.

The donations we received in December, and throughout the year, represent more than the dollars given. They represent a tremendous vote of confidence by our donors in the work of the Mayne Conservancy to preserve the land and shoreline of our island for future generations.

This vote of confidence comes at time when there are so many challenges and pressures on the global environment including climate change, shrinking habitat for wildlife, and loss of biodiversity. These pressures are felt here on Mayne, and we at the Conservancy are striving to mitigate and reduce their impact. Together, we are making good strides in the right direction, and Edith Point is a shining example of that progress.

This year, 2023, is our 20th anniversary, and we wouldn’t be here without the support and commitment of so many generous and sustaining donors, dedicated volunteers, and contributing partners, who helped us achieve so much over these past two decades. There is much reason to celebrate as we look back on where we started and where we are today, and it gives me great hope for the next 20 years—and beyond.

We at the Mayne Conservancy are passionate about our work, and we strongly believe that you share the same passion and that you will continue to be part of our promising journey in making Mayne Island a better place for nature and for us all to live in harmony with nature.

Helen O’Brian, on behalf of the Fundraising Team
