Annual Beach Clean-Up

April 19 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

The island-wide beach clean up returns for 2026!

Sponsored by the Recycling Society and the Conservancy, community members join up with their neighbourhood crews to tackle garbage and recycling removal from beaches around the island. The refuse is taken to the recycling depot, where it is weighed and sorted and brought to facilities off island. Cleaner plastic, Styrofoam, tires, and other material is taken to Ocean Legacy for a new lease on life! Last year, we were able to divert 76% of collected material to their program.

8,303 litres of plastic, Styrofoam, tires, and other garbage was removed from beaches around the island in the 2025 Annual Beach Clean-Up – with our record being 10,060 from 2023.
