Campbell Bay Beach Cleanup

February 1, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Please join us for an unscheduled, time-sensitive beach cleanup at Campbell Bay Beach tomorrow, Friday February 1st starting at 9am. A section of commercial dock made of concrete and styrofoam has washed up and started breaking apart. Styrofoam is now spread across the top of the beach, concentrated in piles along a 50-75m section. If we act quickly, we can recover a significant portion of the styofoam that has already broken apart before it spreads further. We will also demolish the concrete pad and clean up the remaining attached styrofoam.

We will supply gloves and garbage bags, please bring a bucket or other container to scoop styrofoam into. We will aim to meet at 9am and work until the job is done. If you can come and help us, please do. The more helpers we have the greater the proportion of styrofoam we can recover. If anyone is willing to organize some snacks and tea for volunteers please give Rob a call 250-893-7110.

We are looking for the following tools. If you have them and are planning on coming, please give Rob a call to see if they are still needed:

2x long-handled sledge hammers

1x hack saw or bolt cutters
