Ceremonial Planting Day and Mural Unveiling

Come join us for an event celebrating W̱SÁNEĆ ethnobotany and the unveiling of new public art on our island of SḴŦAḴ! Meet at the ethnobotany garden at 2 pm for an Elder’s Ceremonial Planting immediately followed by the Unveiling of artist Sarah Jim’s SḴŦAḴ Triptych murals. Then join us at the Ag Hall for cake and tea and a panel conversation on W̱SÁNEĆ ethnobotany.

The HELISET Youth Drummers and Dancers
Participants will learn about:
- making W̱SÁNEĆ rush mats and what the mats were used for;
- the uses of culturally important plants of the W̱SÁNEĆ people
- the ŦIKEL / Wetland ethnobotany garden we are planting on Mayne / SḴŦAḴ
Admission by donation. All donations to go to the maintenance fund for the ŦIKEL / Wetland ethnobotany garden on Mayne / SḴŦAḴ.
