Winter Birds of Mayne (at the Church House)

December 2, 2017 @ 5:00 am - 8:30 am

Steller's jay

In anticipation of our annual Christmas Bird Count, Michael Dunn will be offering a session on identifying those hard to describe winter birds of Mayne Island. The session will be geared to all levels of experience—you just need to have an interest in birds.

This year we have an abundance of Arbutus berries attracting robins, thrushes and other birds. Steller’s Jays have showed up in numbers and we hope they stay around. The main gull species who winter here are showing up in large flocks around our shores. All of which we will cover, plus more such as the notorious LBB’s (Little Brown Birds) that abound.

Join in, 1pm to 4:30 pm, Saturday, December 2, 2017, Church House. By donation.
