Oceans Day 2019: Creatures of Kadonaga Bay

June 8, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

On Saturday afternoon we’ll be exploring the seashore at Kadonaga Bay to discover the diverse creatures that live there. We’ll be joined by a panel of experts including Kelly Nordin, Dave Hutchinson, and Michael Dunn that will help identify the creatures we find. A favourite pastime of Kelly Nordin & Dave Hutchinson is exploring intertidal zones; seeking to catch a glimpse of some of the many marine organisms that call it their home.  Through their work and studies they have explored many a beach around the world, including those around on the west coast when they both worked at Bamfield Marine Science Center for a number of years. Michael will be setting up some aquarium tanks and pulling in a beach seine to see what marine animals we can find in the nearshore waters.

With a very low tide, this is a perfect opportunity to explore the beach with family and friends!
