Oceans Day: Piggot Bay Beach Walk

June 9, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

As a follow up to Friday evening’s special film screening, on June 9th we will convene at Piggott Bay at 9 am to see what the tides have washed in.

After an hour of scouring the beach gathering our findings in buckets or bags we will bring everything to a central location where we will spread it out on tarps so everyone can see what the tides have brought in since the April 22nd beach cleanup. The goal is to understand what kinds of plastic materials are ending up in our local waters. By sharing this understanding with our friends and neighbours we hope to encourage a new awareness of how current practices affect the bigger picture and how important it is to reduce our reliance on single use plastic both here on Mayne Island and in other communities where we have influence.
