(Online) Arbutus Propagation from Seed
November 9, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Join us for our first foray into online presentations. This short 25 minute talk by Registered Professional Biologist Rob Underhill will provide an introduction to one of the most iconic Gulf Island species: the arbutus tree. Join us to learn all the steps of growing an arbutus from seed collection to planting. This year, we’re seeking volunteers to help us collect and clean arbutus seeds for use in a habitat restoration project. This is an activity you can do on your own, and all the instruction you need will be provided during this talk. To participate, click the Zoom link below at 3pm on Monday November 9th. This is a free event but donations are appreciated!

I really wish I had heard about these online talks sooner , all of them sound so interesting.
I’ve recently retired to Saturna Island and have tried to
Grow some arbutuses from the berries . I was successful with two. Is there any chance that the presentation on propagating these glorious trees is available online… or possibly some tips and tricks ?
I greatly appreciate any assurance in this

Hi Pauline! We didn’t record the Arbutus or Bird talks, but I posted a video on cleaning arbutus seeds you can find here: https://mayneconservancy.ca/publications/ and we recorded Sasha’s presentation on Orchids of the South Coast, which you will find here: https://mayneconservancy.ca/event/online-orchids-of-the-south-coast/
I’m happy to talk arbutus propagation anytime, send me an email at email@example.com and we can connect.
