Join us and guest speaker Sasha Kubicek for an online presentation about our native orchids. These reclusive plants grow in a diversity of habitats and employ several interesting survival strategies. Sasha will guide us through the seasons, and we will learn when to see them in bloom and which species to watch for locally.

Sasha has long been interested in orchids. He was experimenting with orchid propagation at the early age of 10, and his passion and interest has followed him into adulthood. He enjoys sharing his passion for wild places and local ecosystems, encouraging others to learn more about orchids and protecting their habitats. Sasha may call himself an amateur botanist, but his knowledge is truly incredible when it comes to native plant species (especially orchids) and local ecosystems. Sasha co-manages Sea Bluff Farm with his wife Robin Tunnicliffe and works at Saanich Native Plants.
