Shoreline Exploration with Charlotte Matthews
September 19, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm$10
This event is now sold out.
We invite members of the Mayne Island Conservancy to join our summer intern, Charlotte Matthews, for an intertidal shoreline exploration on Saturday, September 19th.
Charlotte is a recent undergraduate from the University of British Columbia with a B.Sc. in Biology. Growing up along the coast of B.C. inspired her to study marine ecology, ornithology, conservation and physiology. She became an experienced diver while assisting research on feather stars in the Philippines, and in the past year Charlotte took field courses at Bamfield Marine Science Centre and spent the winter as an education intern at the Alaska Sealife Center. Throughout her life she has been working on sharing the beauty and diversity of the ecosystems she studies through illustrations and photography.
During her summer with us here, Charlotte has contributed beautiful articles and photographs to the Oystercatcher, as well as working on eel grass mapping, terrestrial restoration and monitoring, and kelp mapping with Conservancy staff.
Please leave your pets at home for Conservancy guided walks. Thank you for your understanding.
