STARRY NIGHTS
August 12, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

It’s a tradition!
In August when the Perseid Meteor Showers are at their peak, the Conservancy hosts a “STARRY NIGHTS” event. We’ve invited back last years speaker Scott Mair who gave an amazing talk in the absence of a clear sky.
Scott Mair is a Victoria based nature nerd and former director of the Center of the Universe Astronomy Interpretive Centre. He’ll give us a quick tour of the night sky and some tips and tricks on navigating our way through the planets and stars and understanding our place in the universe. If it’s clear we’ll have a couple telescopes to scope-out some of the hidden gems of the night sky (if you have one of your own feel free to bring it along).
Bring a blanket and/or tarp to lie on, something warm to wrap yourselves in, and a mug for a warm beverage, and join us for one of the highlights of the summer on Mayne Island!
By donation.
PS – we’ll have goodies too
