This workshop will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to effectively and efficiently manage the most common invasive plant species on Mayne Island. The workshop will be delivered in two parts. The first part will be a short Zoom-based presentation introducing the invasive plants. For the second part, we will meet in person at Henderson Park. Participants will receive a hands-on demonstration and instruction on best methods for manual removal of the following species: Scotch broom, daphne, Himalayan blackberry, English holly, sweet-briar rose, and bull thistle. Additional species such as English ivy, St. John’s wort, periwinkle, and Canada thistle will be discussed in the first part of the workshop.
The workshop will be led by Biologist Rob Underhill, who has over a decade of experience in invasive plant management and habitat restoration.
Registration for the workshop will be limited. Please register below. Registrants will receive an email from Rob with additional details prior to the event.

hi. my partner, Bruce Lussin, will attend as well as my “guest”. Our wifi has been merciless and futile. Don’t know if you are planning to record this but that might help us if we have to bail. Don’t know why wifi has recently gotten even worse.

Sounds great Cheryl. Yes I am planning on recording the online portion. We’ve had a number of requests for that. I’ll send you an email about the in-person component.

I’ve registered for the invasive plane workshop but can only attend the zoom part because I’m leaving the island later in the afternoon. I presume that’s ok, let me know if it’s not. Thanks.

No problem Jim. I’ll send you an email.
