The Zoom Presentation Identifying Winter Bird Species – a Primer, will focus on the species of birds that are resident or visitors in the winter months. Michael will show a series of slides and share the songs or calls of the species based on terrestrial or shoreline habitat, helping to ground new and returning birders.

Michael Dunn, the Conservancy’s Executive Director, and the publisher of the Mayne Island Bird Checklist booklet also organizes Mayne Island’s participation in International Birding Events – like the Christmas Bird Count and the International Big Bird Count. Michael has a list of approximately 50 islanders who regularly participate in these events.
