Friends with Benefits

Rob Percival at the Mayne Conservancy’s market booth, where you can visit us to learn more about our work, purchase a membership, or donate towards our programming.
If you are reading this, then you must be on our Oystercatcher list, which means you are either a current member or were a member at one time in the past. Membership numbers and your support give us so much help in applying for grants, land protection and access to funds. Funders look at how many supporters we have so they can see the reach we have in the community. Membership counts.
Membership is even more important for a small community. When we apply for funding, the small size of the island and our population can look like a drop in the bucket to a funder. But when they hear that over 10% of the entire population of the island are members and supporters of our work—that gets attention. Imagine if we could get to 20%? With just 75 more members we could get there. Such a level of engagement would speak volumes about community support for the work we’re doing. For $10 a year, or $100 for a lifetime, each additional member shows how much individual participation on a small island really matters!
If you are already a member then you know and recognize all the Conservancy brings to the island for residents and visitors alike. From natural areas protected for the future for all, to the events at the daycare for young children. From speakers on world matters to island life, to Ocean’s Day on the beach with children and future biologists (coming up on Saturday, June 13th!). From the Stars at night, birds and bats, beach clean-up, invasive plants removal, native plant propagation, and land protected for the future. So many benefits.

The other part of the picture is that government funding has become unpredictable with the current economy and world events, and by becoming a monthly donor you help stabilize our income throughout the year. This allows us to plan ahead with clarity and purpose.
So, I am also asking if you can help us with this work on the island, by becoming a monthly supporter?
A donation of:
- $5/month per month gives us a hall rental for any event.
- $10/month provides materials for a nest box workshop or mason bee homes.
- $30/month helps us plant 30 more native trees and shrubs.
- $50/month provides training and education for young biologist.
Support in any amount helps to bring more ideas and events for all to benefit.
For those of you who have chosen to be monthly donors, we thank you and greatly appreciate your commitment to our work.
Wondering about membership? Please, contact us at admin@mayneconservancy.ca to inquire about your membership status and how you can become a lifetime member.
Thanks for your continued support
