The May long weekend is just around the corner and normally we’d be looking forward to the opening of the Farmers’ Market and May Day, one of the community’s most colourful spring events. It is with great sadness that we formally announce the cancellation of May Day for 2020. Have no fear–the team of organizers are already whispering about 2021. Mark it on your calendar – Saturday, May 15, 2021.
Our lead coordinator for May Day, volunteer Kat Ferneyhough, would like to pass on the following:
May Day is an event during which we not only raise funds for the Mayne Island Conservancy, but also when we get together to celebrate and cherish this unique little corner of the world in all of its natural glory. I think, in these trying and uncertain times, that it has become even more poignant that we must continue to protect this magical place and the opportunities it presents to us and our families. I hope that if current circumstances find you spending less money on dining, entertainment, and/or travel, you might consider putting some money aside for the conservancy. Thank you all for your steadfast support; stay safe, stay healthy, stay home.
