May Day Thank Yous

Published by Deb Foote on

As usual, May Day 2025 was a day to remember! And it could not have happened without the involvement of the community. A huge thanks goes out to everyone one who came out to participate.

Thank you to the Ag Society for supporting the event at the first Market of the season. Thank you to Chrysta Wallin and her music students for continuing the tradition of performing at May Day, and to Martin Renaud, Adrianna Granville and the Stone Crop singers for their performances during Market hours.

Market-goers join in for the children’s pledge to the earth.

Thank you to the volunteers who helped with the crafting activities both before and at the event, and for cleaning up at the Ag Hall grounds. Thank you to those of you who stepped in to fill roles that were key to the success of the day.

The procession makes its way into the park!

Thank you to the raffle contributors: the Briary, 2 Tricksters (Johnny & Jess), Donna Dubock, Don Barthel, Susheela Kungari, Das Preserves, Healing Herbs Spring, Vulture Ridge, Wood on Wilks, Mayne Beauty Studio, Cree Ture Beads, Mayne Island Clay Works, Home Hardware, and Meadow Dove Wellness. And of course thanks to all of you who purchased tickets.

Thank you to Mayne Islands Parks and Rec Commission for allowing us to continue to use ALELEN | Miner’s Bay park for the Labyrinth and May Pole dance, and this year’s Celebration in the Park.

Thank you to the cake servers and those who stepped in to help and to pack things up at the end of the afternoon.

Thank you to Dita and the crew from Portobella and the Funguys for the live music at Miners Bay, it really was a blast.

Thank you to the Queen of May, Haylee Stobart, and her Green Man, Domenico Redsell, they truly were a regal couple. Your composure and eloquence were noted by everyone I spoke to at or after the event.

The 2025 May Queen and Green Man.

It takes a lot to put together an event with so many different moving parts. There is always room for more volunteers, so if you are interested, we would love to hear from you.
