One Hundred Lifetime Memberships

The Conservancy is thrilled with the response we have received from the SḴŦAḴ | Mayne Island community since the introduction of our new Lifetime Membership at the beginning of 2024.
A year ago, we revised the Conservancy’s bylaws to create this new membership category, and as of the end of October, we have 100 new Lifetime Members!
A strong membership base helps us attract both grants and donations, which together represent the bulk of our revenue. Meanwhile, an engaged membership provides us with an audience for events, restoration work, and conservation initiatives at all scales.
With a one-time payment of $100, you never have to worry about renewing your membership again, while at the same time Conservancy staff and volunteers benefit from a reduction in administrative work. This gives us more time to plan, execute and promote our programs.
All members receive the monthly Oystercatcher newsletter, and the Annual Report published in the fall, which provides statistics on the year’s accomplishments. For instance, did you know that our volunteers and staff spent 780 hours of their time restoring natural habitat and managing invasive plants over the past year? Or that we have planted nearly 700 native trees and shrubs? Membership also includes an invitation to participate in our Annual General Meeting, held on or around Earth Day in April, and priority at our native plant sales. The Conservancy’s members provide us with an important vote of confidence in the future of our conservation and land protection work, and we deeply appreciate this support for our vision of protecting 30% of SḴŦAḴ | Mayne Island by 2033.
