A Successful Launch

On Saturday, December 3rd, the Mayne Island community gathered at the Community Centre to celebrate one of the most exciting announcements we’ve ever made: an opportunity to purchase and protect forever St. John Point, a beautiful 64-acre waterfront property on the southeast tip of the island.

We had a wonderful time sharing the news, and the response from the community was electric. Support for the campaign has been overwhelmingly positive, and the pledges have begun rolling in.

We have a long ways to go together. Our first milestone is the $2 million mark. That is the sum of pledges we need in order to get the spectacular 64-acre property off the open market, and we're hoping to get there in the next few months.

Below is our pledge wall: a gallery of the individuals who have pledged to save St. John Point. If your name isn't there yet, please make your way to our Pledge Page and show your support.

A heartfelt thank-you to those who have pledged so far. Together, we will protect this important piece of Mayne Island forever.

How is this going to work? Do we have to raise the entire amount by a certain period of time? Or can we put a deposit on it and get financing somehow? Is there any chance the government would contribute something?

    Hello
Yes, we need to close the deal by the end of 2017. (See this post.)
And yes, we will approach government(s) for support. That’s one of the reasons we want to reach $2 million in pledges as soon as possible—to use those pledges as leverage when we approach other large funders.
    Thanks
